| BROADCAST ELECTRONICS (BE) TO SHOW AT NAB NEW VERSIONS OF ITS SCALABLE LOW-POWER FM TRANSMITTER, CENTRALIZED MANAGEMENT TOOLS FOR ITS AUTOMATION SYSTEM, NEW MEDIA APPLICATIONS AND MORE |
 |
February 16th, 2010 - Broadcast Electronics (BE) is showcasing at booth C1628 during the NAB show new versions of its low-power STX LP FM transmitter and new centralized management tools for its studio automation system. In addition, the company will show new applications for its data management platform and metadata capabilities for its logger application.
STX LP Low Power Scalable FM Transmitter This will be the first NAB that BE will show its 2 kW version of the STX LP transmitter line.
The STX LP low-power, solid-state transmitter is the newest member in BE’s broad line of AM and FM transmitters. This lightweight, low-power transmitter is scalable from 1 kW to 5 kW and comes with built-in exciter, an emergency backup controller and IP connectivity for a starting price under US$7000 (1 kW version). At a third the size of other transmitters in its power class, the STX LP packs in all the reliable engineering expected of a top-end Broadcast Electronics transmitter but in a much smaller footprint and price point. It is based on the robust power amplification design found in BE’s C and S series transmitters, yet utilizes newer proprietary combiner technology to reduce its footprint to within three rack units for easy installation into any RF site.
New AudioVAULT FleX Tools for Syncing Schedules and Inventory Across Multiple Sites
BE's popular AudioVAULT FleX digital automation system will be sporting several new tools this NAB show, including distributed asset management and integration tools to synchronize schedules and inventory across multiple sites. In addition, BE will demonstrate an expanded segue editor and new user interfaces for the AudioVAULT FleX, which offers personalized screens customized for show or talent, plus has true IP networking for connecting multiple studios into a single operation. Although classified as a program automation system, BE's AudioVAULT FleX does much more than automatically play a sequence of songs and commercials. AudioVAULT Flex has dozens of tools that can be put together in infinite ways for creating, managing and airing content. Broadcasters can start with a single affordable AudioVAULT FleX workstation for voice tracking, programming, and live assist, and then easily expand to a multi-server, multi-site system as needed. This powerful, configurable program generation and management system can adapt one studio for multiple purposes or power large, multi-station studios with ease.
New Media Apps for TRE Message Manager Software Suite
Broadcast Electronics' Message Manager suite marketed under The Radio Experience (TRE) brings to the NAB several new functions for RDS, HD Radio™, Internet and even Twitter. BE will be demonstrating TRECast, a new tool for creating instant unscheduled messages such as weather warnings, news alerts, or even live contest details to be delivered instantly to a single station or group of stations. These messages can be archived to a message clipboard for immediate access by announcers at any time, and from any station in the network for redistribution on RDS, HD Radio, the Web or Twitter. This is in addition to its new social network tagging capabilities giving listeners the ability to receive a station's now playing data as well as earmark songs for purchase through the station's social networking feeds such as Twitter and Facebook. Compatible with BE's AudioVAULT and most other major automation systems, TRE messagecasting software enables operators to schedule text messages in much the same way they would schedule music, with a complete set of tools for generating and tracking advertiser, as well as promotional messages. At the heart of the TRE Message Manager system is its ability to interleave artist and song title information embedded in automation files along with text data generated internally or imported from a third party, such as a weather or traffic service.
New Metadata Capabilities for BE's Audio Logger
Broadcast Electronics will demonstrate its new logger for its flagship AudioVAULT digital automation system at the NAB show. A popular choice for capturing, analyzing and archiving audio and video from just about any source, BE's logger now includes Podcast, PPM, RDS and other metadata capabilities. It can now import PPM data and display the minute-by-minute audience graph together with program information imported from the play-out system, providing a critical analysis tool for making program decisions. It can also log metadata from HD Radio, DMB/DAB/DAB+, as well as RDS text, station volume and signal output levels and display all data in the player. The logger is compatible with all major automation systems and can be purchased as a standalone application or integrated into the BE AudioVAULT digital media system.
