RADIO FOORTI ACQUIRES BROADCAST ELECTRONICS (BE) FM 10S TRANSMITTERS FOR EXPANSION IN BANGLADESH
May 3rd, 2010 - Radio Foorti expanded its network last month with the installation of Broadcast Electronics BE) FM 10S transmitter systems at five new RF sites, becoming the largest privately operated network of FMs in
Bangladesh.

Radio Foorti's new transmitter operations in Khulna, Rajshahi, Barishal, Mymensingh and Cox's Bazar add to its existing operations in Dhaka, Sylhet and
Chittagong, which went on the air in 2006.

"BE transmitters were selected for their superior performance, great sound and BE's customer support in Bangladesh at a very attractive value," commented Anisuzzaman Anis, Manager of Broadcast for Radio Foorti.

"These new sites are remote to our capital city and we need to be able to count on full, 24/7 operation with minimal maintenance," he added.

Radio Foorti, which plays a variety of regional and international music, from golden classics to the latest songs released from the top artists in Bangladesh and India, selected BE from a short list of manufacturers after reviewing RF sites in the region.

"We are very pleased to be able to support Radio Foorti with our FM transmitters and assist in expanding their coverage into these new cities that had not been able to enjoy private FM radio service until now," said Frank Massa, Asia Pacific Sales Manager for Broadcast Electronics, the largest radio-only broadcast equipment manufacturer in the world now celebrating 50 years of radio innovation.

A premier supplier of full, turnkey AM and FM systems in the South Asia region, BE has supplied transmission systems to all the major private broadcasters in Bangladesh as well as Radio Mango, Hello FM, Sun TV Network Ltd., and Red FM in India; Neth FM, MBC, and Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation and Independent Television Network in Sri Lanka; and Kantipur FM in Nepal, among others worldwide.

BE manufactures a full line of solid state transmitters for AM, FM and HD Radio/DRM, and for every power class, as well as the AudioVAULT digital studio automation system.

Like other BE transmitters, the FM 10S 10 kW solid state transmitter is engineered for reliability with true proportional VSWR, independent PAs and redundant power supplies, and a failsafe protection system that keeps the transmitter on the air under extreme conditions. Included with the transmitter is BE's FXi 60W exciter, an ultra-linear exciter that uses direct-to-channel RF frequency generation for optimum RF performance. The exciter is able to create the transmitting frequency directly using DSP technology without any IF stages or frequency conversion. As a result, noise and spurious emissions present in some digital exciters are non-existent.

In addition to FM 10S transmitters, Radio Foorti acquired a new BE STX LP 1 kW transmitter for emergency mobile back up. "We have been very impressed with the features/performance and ruggedness of this compact transmitter," said Anis of BE’s newest member in its broad line of transmitter products.
